Pink Jeep Tour from Sedona - February 2023

Welcomed change of pace- Pink Jeep Tour

After nearly a week of travel, 50+ miles of hiking and 1500+ miles of driving, sitting in a car while someone else drove was something I had to get used to. If I had to change the logistics about one part of my trip, it would have been this one. This tour was amazing, I most certainly don't regret it. But, it did back-track from where I'd come from (Page, AZ as I realized the first time I drove through it), so I could have maybe switched some stuff around and spent less time sitting in the car that day. BUT, I digress. The tour was great and I'm glad I did it, even though it did require me to sit still for several hours in a van with other people (who were all lovely and I have not one single complaint- that isn't even sarcasm).

Horseshoe Bend

I've seen many photos of this landmark, and none of them fully do it justice. This is located in Page, AZ and has a HUGE parking lot and a paved trail out and back that's about a mile. It's full of people at all times, but is so vast in size you can easily get pictures without others if you desire. just don't get too close to the edge. People fall off and die a lot, and it's chilling to think about, especially when you're sitting there. So, just be careful. As part of this Pink Jeep tour, it was about 3 hours from Sedona. You don't need a scheduled tour to go, by the way. And though I could have googled where this was before surprising myself by literally driving by it on the way through, it's between Zion and the Grand Canyon, so I ran into it on that day of my trip. Again, the one logistic I could have logistically done a little better.

Lower Antelope Canyon

When I was a child, I saw this vibrant, swirling, orange canyon on a screen saver at school, and have wanted to see it for myself ever since. This tour was literally out of this world. It is on protected Navaho lands, and the tours are booked through one of two companies owned by the same family on the land. We did ours through Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon Tours that had been booked through the Pink Jeep tour I was on. Our guide was so sweet and knowledgeable, and she took pictures with our own phones using professional settings I didn't know my phone was capable of. This canyon spans a mile under ground, and being surrounded by the remnants of the shear power of nature that created this literal work of art was astounding. This experience was beyond words, and I would recommend it to anyone! There are a lot of stairs at the beginning that are rather narrow and steep, and a few smaller sections of stairs ascending out of the canyon at a few parts, but if you can do stairs, this is a very accessible experience for all ages and athletic abilities.
